20 Under 40: Beall, a LaGrange native, grew plumbing business – LaGrange Daily News

Alex Beall can often be found in his spacious but windowless office on Whitesville Road, which is home to a multitude of phone calls from plumbers performing repair and installation work across the LaGrange community and beyond. Originally from LaGrange, Beall now works for Jackson Services as director of the company’s plumbing division and has held the position since selling his own business to his current employer in July 2017.

Beall’s route to selling a successful plumbing business has been a bit unconventional and is a testament to how far hard work and underrated skills can go. From an early age, Beall showed an aptitude for the type of applied math and geometry required for installation, and it wasn’t long before he began to use that skill.

“Plumbing was easy for me, I got it and it made sense to me,” said Beall. “I excelled at it pretty quickly. It’s not just about clogging toilets, a lot of it is flow rates, geometry, things like that. “

After Beall took a job with the Troup County School System in the maintenance department at a young age, he soon began branching out and doing side chores as a plumber for family and friends.

“I started learning about plumbing, and I started fixing my grandmother’s faucet or an aunt and uncle’s water heater. Then I realized, ‘Hey, I can make some money on it,” Beall said.

Full-time work with the school system as well as a steady stream of additional plumbing work soon resulted in long days and short nights. So Beall and his young family decided to start a plumbing company, Beall’s Plumbing. At the time, Beall was all 25 years old.

“There was a lot of fear and uncertainty at the time, it was in the middle of the real estate crisis,” said Beall of the establishment of the company. “But at that time LaGrange had a need for plumbers so we could grow quickly.”

Over the next decade, von Beall’s business grew to include up to 16 plumbers. During that time, Beall joined a networking group through the LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce that led him to meet Dale Jackson of Jackson Services. After a lengthy advertising process on the part of Jackson Services, Beall determined that a merger was in the best interests of his growing company and its employees.

“This move was all about growth,” said Beall. “Now we offer full medical benefits, 401 (k) with a match, vacation time, etc. You can now be a plumber in LaGrange and earn a competitive wage and also have the benefits of a great business.”

The growth originally outlined by Beall and his team has been achieved and future growth plans look promising.

Beall is also married to his middle school sweetheart. He and his wife Hanna met in an 8th grade algebra class at Gardner-Newman Middle School and have been together ever since. The two now have three children, Chloe, Camden and Isla.
