Bexar County launches plumbing assistance program for residents following winter storm

SAN ANTONIO – Bexar County announced a $ 5 million resident aid program to cover property damage after winter storm.

The program helps residents in areas with no legal personality as well as in suburban cities, regardless of who their water supplier is, officials said in a statement. Residents of private water wells are also entitled to financial support.

Eligible Residents may receive up to $ 1,500 for plumbing repairs – including burst pipes. Residents can click here for more information.

Homeowners should be ready to upload receipts, bills and, if possible, pictures of the work they have completed.

Qualifications for the reimbursement program include:

  1. The resident must own and live in the house (tenants are not allowed).

  2. Must be at or below 80% of median income for the area (e.g. $ 57,600 for a family of four)

  3. The self-certification with documents showing that the work was completed after February 14th

  4. Must be attached to / in the apartment (no pool pumps, lawn sprinkler systems, water softeners, etc.)

  5. The homeowner must not have received financial assistance from any other source for repairs (e.g. insurance, FEMA assistance, or other benefits).
