Blind Scots mum endures years of hell as poo erupts from sink and shower

A BLIND Scots mother’s house was covered in human feces and infested with maggots after sewage erupted from the sink and shower.

Jade Simpson, 29, has been fighting to fix her plumbing problems for four years.

Sewage has broken out of the sinks

The problems started just months after Jade, her fiancé Gavin, and their two sons – one of whom has learning difficulties – moved into their Fort William bungalow five years ago.

The couple claim that the Blackwood Homes housing company failed to resolve drainage problems on the property.

But the company denied the allegations, claiming the recent blockages were caused by a family member flushing wipes down the toilet, which Jade denies.

Blackwood Homes offers ‘accessible, modern, attractive and bespoke housing’ for people with disabilities.

Jade told The Scottish Sun, “We got a bit clogged up and then the sewage came in through the shower.

“People’s feces have flowed into the kitchen and hallway. I feel like we’re living in a sewer.”

She said, “In the beginning I knew they were baby wipes – I knew I shouldn’t use them.

“My children are 10 and 8 years old – I don’t use baby wipes, and if they do, they end up in the trash can. but I even stopped using them in case they caused a problem.

“But they kept saying that was the reason. It was bad for my mental health to be accused of such a thing. My children knew and understood that they weren’t allowed to wash baby wipes.”

A spokesman for Blackwood Homes told The Scottish Sun, “Blackwood has gone to great lengths to solve the problem of clogged drains on the tenant’s home.

“We also compensated the tenant for the disruption. After this work, it turned out that the main cause of the drainage problems was that a member of the tenant household flushed a large amount of unsuitable material into the toilet.

“Blackwood supported the tenant in word and deed so that something like this didn’t happen again. We note that this customer has requested a move to another area. “

Jade claims the company moved the family from “hotel to hotel” and later to a trailer park for four months when workers tried to fix the problem after the initial outbreak.

The Scottish couple’s new home had 50 problems – from holes in the ceiling to a GASLEAK

But the mother claims she didn’t notice that the shower was plugged into a drain pipe other than the toilet and sink – which means the shower later erupted with sewage again.

Jade says a probe later found the shower drainage system “went backwards”, leaving floods of sewage under the property and between rotten floorboards.

In emails to The Scottish Sun, environmental health officials claimed that the clay pipes were “unusually small” for modern homes.

And they concluded that off-site drains could easily become clogged if “relatively small” amounts of “unsuitable material” were flushed.

A neighbor of Jade says she had similar problems – and claims that her bathroom was flooded with sewage and mold has developed since then.

The Fort William resident told Blackwood Homes that the drainage problems had seriously affected her health as she feared the air in her home had been contaminated.

Jade does not work due to her disability and Gavin is her full time supervisor.

She has since been diagnosed with vomiting infrequently, and one of her children is struggling with nausea, nausea, and diarrhea.

She has lost 4th place in the past two years because she developed a food phobia, cannot sleep, and fears that her family may have been poisoned by the effects of sewage.

She added, “I have no appetite, I can’t sleep, I feel robotic, I feel like I’m just surviving.

“I’ve developed a massive food phobia and can’t eat anything in this house.”

Jade claims Blackwood Homes refused to move her family out of the house.

Jade added: “I am at the end of my tether.

“I have asked for evidence that they removed the sewage and they cannot give me any reports or evidence.

She said, “All along I was promised that I would be prioritized and move out of the house.

“I am registered blind and need to be closer to Inverness for treatment.

“My son has learning difficulties and needs his own bedroom.

“He’s so upset about change and he’s so scared to be in this house.”

The ordeal has also left her entire family in financial trouble.

She added, “We had to throw so many things out.

“They refuse to compensate us for it.

“All they offered was a thorough clean, but that was not acceptable.

“Not long ago I had to take out a loan to replace everything, now I’m in a financial situation where I have to pay back a loan that I can’t afford.

“It paralyzed me financially.”
