BluMetric Proprietary Cleantech Brings Potable Water to Iqaluit Residents | 2021-12-21 | Press Releases

Ottawa, Ontario – (Newsfile Corp. – December 21, 2021) – BluMetric Environmental Inc. (TSXV: BLM) is committed to providing safe drinking water in emergency situations. On October 12, 2021, Iqaluit declared a state of emergency because of its contaminated water supply. The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) responded on October 23, 2021 with the use of mobile water purification units designed and built by BluMetric. These units were successful in supplying local residents with drinking water.

The emergency water treatment solution from BluMetric was developed for use in the harshest of environments. It has been shown to remove carbon, biological, radioactive, and nuclear contaminants, and 99.9 percent of all bacteria and viruses. The treatment system works in a 20-foot container and is portable by truck, train and air.

The Canadian Armed Forces have successfully operated the BluMetric treatment system on humanitarian aid missions in Haiti and the Philippines, and Iqaluit was the first Arctic mission. This mission was a critical test of these systems in some of the harshest conditions in the north. Crucial to the success of this mission was the unit of the Canadian Joint Operations Command (CJOC), which operated the system with skill and agility under freezing conditions.

On December 11, 2021, the Canadian Army received notification that the local water supply in Iqaluit had been restored. BluMetric provided 24-hour standby support throughout the deployment.
