The Los Angeles Police Department has released body camera footage of an intense exchange of fire in which a SWAT officer was shot in the face and a suspect was killed after an hour-long hiatus in Exposition Park.

– – Dramatic new body cam video just released by LAPD SWAT. It was captured earlier this month during a dangerous firefight with a man barricaded in a house near USC. A SWAT officer was shot in the face during the confrontation. And we have to warn you, it is a video that is graphic and may disturb some viewers.
– – Let me see your hands!
– – SWAT officers called for a report of a lethal weapon attack. SWAT surrounds a house near USC, a man barricades and shoots SWAT officers. The officers fired tear gas into the house and tried to attack the barricaded man.
– – The suspect comes out the 2, 3 corner of the door.
– – Jorge, let me see your hands!
[GUNSHOT]
– – We heard a round.
– – Roger
– – I was hit in the vest.
– – You got hit in the vest?
– – All right, everyone holds your positions … [INAUDIBLE]
– – Rodney was hit in the vest.
– – Come out with your hands up!
– – [BLEEP].
– – The barricaded man continues to shoot.
[GUNSHOT]
– – Do you want me to take your place?
– – No i’m good Let me see your hands!
– – Can you see him?
– – I can’t see him, no.
– – Commanders decide that more tear gas should be fired.
– – I will do it from here.
– – Yes continue. You have to see him.

– – Rodney is down! Officer down! Officer down! Rodney is down! Rodney is down!
– – While the injured officer is being dragged away, he is bleeding from a gunshot wound to his face. Another SWAT officer became engaged to the suspect, opened fire and ended the firefights.

This is the weapon that SWAT officers recovered – a shotgun that has been reported stolen. One pistol also recovered. And investigators say it is an undetectable ghost weapon with no serial number.
According to police, 36-year-old Jorge Armando Cerda from Los Angeles was pronounced dead at the scene.
– – Incredibly brave work by these SWAT officers. And the SWAT officer who was shot in the face was treated at a local hospital. He was later performed in a stable condition. He is expected to make a full recovery. An investigation into the use of force is currently being carried out.
