Boil Water Order Issued for Mountain Empire High School Due to E.Coli – NBC 7 San Diego

The County of San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality issued a Boil Water Order for Mountain Empire High School because their drinking water system was tested for E. coli bacteria.

The water system supplies four supply connections with water, including the high school, the district office, a maintenance and transport facility and a single-family house with an average daily population of 1,000, the city announced.

Mountain Empire High School is located at 3305 Buckman Springs Road, Pine Valley, CA 91962.

The presence of E. coli bacteria indicates that the water may be contaminated with human or animal waste. Health effects can include diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headache, or other symptoms.

“E. Coli can pose particular health risks to infants, young children, some elderly people, and people with severely compromised immune systems,” the San Diego County said in a statement.

The order to boil water will remain in place until laboratory results confirm the absence of bacteria in the water supply.
