Building and plumbing supply firm opens first Scottish outlet in Coatbridge

A construction and plumbing company selected Coatbridge as the first Scottish outlet.

M Markovitz Ltd has opened at M8 Interlink Industrial Estate and specializes in supplying drywall and insulation for large construction projects across the central belt.

The move will initially create 12 full-time positions.

With the new premises, the company, which is headquartered in Derbyshire and mainly operates in the Midlands and north of England, can expand to the whole of Great Britain.

David Hopkins, CEO of Markovitz, said: “We have been delighted to have the support of the North Lanarkshire Council in establishing our first foothold in Scotland.

“This site is ideally located to give us great links across the central belt. Our doors are open and we would like to further expand our activities north of the border. “

North Lanarkshire Council worked with the company to make the Scottish base possible.

Company Director Yvonne Weir said, “We are delighted to have Markovitz in Scotland and North Lanarkshire, which gives them the ideal base to expand their business.

“With excellent transport links, a skilled workforce and access to opportunities in the strong construction market in central Scotland, North Lanarkshire is well positioned for companies like Markovitz to locate and invest.”

By supporting the Business Engagement Council, the company will partner with the Construction Hub South West and Build Lanarkshire programs, access the Business Gateway Lanarkshire support services and the Council’s Employability Service, and connect through the Construction Scotland Innovation Center in Hamilton and build networks.
