Building Damaged After Steam Pipe Burst In Downtown Tulsa

The Tulsa Fire Department was called to the site of a burst steam line near East 7th Street and South Boston Avenue Wednesday morning.

Andy Little of the Tulsa Fire Department said the crews received a call for a sprinkler activation for the first time around 5 a.m.

According to the crews, a burst pipe in the engine room caused pressure to build up in the sprinkler system, which caused it to come off inside the building on the 7th and on the Bostoner.

The crews were able to turn off the springs and a representative from the company handling the steam lines was able to turn off the flow of steam.

Officials said the sprinklers caused significant water damage inside the building.

It is currently unclear why the pipe burst.
