California-based plumbers bring aid to San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO – An unprecedented and historic winter storm that swept south Texas a few weeks ago still has some families scrambling to fix their pipes and fix their homes.

The repairs have proven costly and some are taking longer than expected due to the lack of installers in the area.

Because of this, a group of plumbers traveled from California to San Antonio to help residents of the West Side for free.

One of those master plumbers is a coffee shop owner in San Diego, David Chaddick. He organized a GoFundMe to buy plumbing supplies that are already sold out in most hardware stores in the area.

Chaddick, along with a team of experts, loaded her U-Haul and walked down I-10, straight to San Antonio, to help with the winter storm relief effort on the West Side.

Families used Chaddick and his crew over the weekend to do much-needed home repairs. His team completely rebuilt a wheelchair ramp for Yolanda Villareal, who lives on the West Side, and her husband. This is just one example of the work the team has done so far.

Chaddick and others are scheduled to return to the West Coast this week but will leave knowing that they have made a difference to many San Antonians.
