The city of Tulsa is offering to pay for plumbing emergency repairs to repair damage caused by the freezing temperatures of the past month.
The grants are available to lower-income homeowners who have not yet had their plumbing repaired. The money does not have to be paid back.
The program is the same that was previously used to repair roofs after the North Tulsa tornado and to repair weather heads damaged by the ice storm.
“We knew that after thawing, a lot of people would wake up and find that they had a lot of water leaks, and that’s inherently the emergency program,” said program coordinator Brant Pitchford.
Pitchford said that applications have already been received.
The grants are for emergency repairs only and only up to $ 5,000 per home. There is an income qualification policy, and the application deadline is March 19th.
According to Pitchford, the process from application to repair can only take a few days.
“They actually fill out an application, we send an inspector to check these conditions are met, we put him on our plumber list, they complete the repairs, and we pay the plumber direct,” Pitchford said.
The homeowner has no expenses.
You can find the application here online or by calling 918-576-5552.
