Beginning Tuesday, September 7, 2021, Wheaton Avenue will be temporarily closed to vehicle traffic from Union Avenue to Franklin Street while crews work on renewing the underground sewer system. Due to the scope of this work, the city has to close both lanes on this block during the construction phase. This closure is expected to last until the end of the day on Friday, September 10th.
Signs will help drivers reroute around this block out of a block. The residents of this block still have access to their apartments during this work.
The City of Wheaton is on contact with District 200 to alert Longfellow Elementary School staff and students of this temporary closure.
