ePIPE® Team Awarded Two U.S. Patents for In-place Protection of Nonmetallic Pipes, Adding to Existing Portfolio of Over 30 Patents

LAS VEGAS–(BUSINESS WIRE) – Pipe Restoration Technologies, LLC (PRT), maker of the ePIPE, Lead-Free Leak-Free ™, and LeadSmart® lines, announced that US Patents No. 9889469 and No. 9889470 have been granted.

These new patents relate to the ePIPE system of in-place pipe restoration, which allows non-metallic pipes to be protected on site. Non-metallic (or plastic) pipes include pipes made from PEX, polybutylene, and PVC.

ePIPE is the only protective barrier coating material listed in the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) for use in metallic and non-metallic piping systems.

“We continue to develop solutions to protect metallic and non-metallic piping systems,” said Larry Gillanders, CEO of Pipe Restoration Technologies. “In addition to faulty metal pipes, we also come across faulty pipes from the PEX, polybutylene and PVC material families. Often times, as a result of pipeline failures, building owners face damage to their property from leaks and water loss, and then grapple with the high cost of repair or pipe replacement. Depending on the scope of work, pipes can be restored on site within a few hours using the patented ePIPE solution. ”

ePIPE is an NSF 61-approved barrier coating with a 90-minute restart for use in drinking water pipes with a diameter of ½ inch that carry drinking water up to commercial hot standards of 82 ° C.

PRT has an existing portfolio of over 30 US and international patents covering processes, systems and apparatus focused on the in-place restoration of underground and in-building piping systems.

Via ePIPE® and LeadSmart®

The patented ePIPE process involves the restoration of pipes in place with an epoxy barrier coating applied, resulting in a restored and protected epoxy-coated piping system. The procedure provides a solution to plate leaks, hole leaks and the reduction of lead leaching from lead pipes and lead contributors. LeadSmart is an on-site lead test and lead rehabilitation service that results in a property being LeadSmart certified. Service providers are located in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Hong Kong, Great Britain and Europe. For more information, contact ACE DuraFlo® Systems at www.epipeinfo.com or (888) 775-0220.
