Funds still available as Bexar County launches second phase of Plumbing Assistance Program

BEXAR COUNTY It has been weeks since the devastating winter storm that swept south Texas, but many residents in suburban and outlying areas of Bexar County still lack running water in their homes, according to county officials.

Just last week, Bexar County started a reimbursement program offering up to $ 1,500 per household to help residents repair costs for burst pipes and installation problems caused by the winter storm.

Still, many households in suburban towns and areas of unincorporated Bexar County are without water and, according to official sources, have difficulty finding plumbers due to their remote location.

According to official figures, to date the county has distributed more than 40,000 cases of water in these areas alone.

Starting Friday, city and county officials launched the second phase of the plumbing aid program, which aims to help households by connecting them to plumbers and reducing repair costs.
