File photo: In the municipality of Asante-Mampong, plans for the construction of storm sewers are underway
The construction of storm sewers is planned in the municipality of Asante-Mampong. The three main destinations are Mampong Zongo East and West and Taadie Lake.
Asante-Mampong MP who made the announcement, Mr Kwaku Ampratwum Sarpong said the 2021 budget had already captured the construction of drains in the community.
After an inspection of Lake Taadie, he spoke to the Ghanaian news agency that the construction and expansion of the drainage systems would help reduce flooding in the city when it rains.
Dredging Lake Taadie would also help not only beautify it, but restore it to its historical and spiritual significance while positioning it as a tourist attraction site.
Mr. Sarpong said the lake with its abundance of fish was a place of relaxation and spiritual renewal for many people in the past.
It was therefore important to dredge the lake and other storm sewers in the city to reduce flooding during the rain.
