Hoffman Estates fire started during plumbing work

No injuries were reported after a fire Monday afternoon caused $ 14,000 in damage to a Hoffman Estates home.

Firefighters responded at 3:27 p.m. to a one-story house at 550 Norridge Lane where they found smoke from the front eaves, according to a press release.

The emergency services found the fire in a wall where plumbing was being done and were able to put it out quickly.

The first investigation revealed that the fire was accidentally started due to the maintenance work. The house has smoke detectors, but it is unclear whether they were in operation at the time of the fire.
