Homes without water after burst pipe causes flooding in Port Talbot

Some homes have run out of water after a burst water pipe floods and disrupts the water supply in Port Talbot.

An aqueduct at Fenbrook Close burst and road diversions had to be set up, Neath Port Talbot council said.

Homes in the Sandfields, Aberavon and Baglan areas were affected by water outages or water pressure drops.

A water truck with bottles of water was sent to the Morrisons parking lot in Baglan to help people in need of water.

A resident in the Sandfields area told ITV News she had been without water since 4 a.m.

Angharad, who relies on a guide dog, said she was concerned about the heat and how she would give her dog water.

“It’s pretty warm and I have a guide dog so I was pretty worried,” she said.

“The water has now come back, but there is no pressure.”

On Sunday afternoon, Welsh Water said it was making “good progress” in repairing the aqueduct.

A spokesperson said: “For customers in the Sandfields, Aberavon and Baglan areas of Port Talbot, we are making good progress in repairing our aqueduct.

“Still well on the way to getting everything back to normal by this afternoon.

South Wales police said they were called in the early hours of Sunday morning about an incident at Seaway Parade in Sandfields that resulted in the A4241 being blocked in both directions.
