The home: A 900 m² semi-detached house with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It was built in the 1940s, with new hardwood floors on the first floor and a kitchen renovation 10 years ago. The second floor needs repairs, including renovating the bathroom, ripping out old carpets and replacing the bedroom doors.

What I spent: $ 900,000
Deposit: $ 300,000 (My partner and I each contributed $ 150,000)
Mortgage payment: $ 2,500 / month (split 60/40 between my partner and me depending on income)
