How to prevent frozen pipes from breaking in Siouxland cold | SiouxlandProud | Sioux City, IA

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) – With bitter cold temperatures en route, homeowners’ annual fear of broken water pipes is on their minds.

Morningside Plumbing staff recommends isolating pipes near outside walls, opening cabinets, and running drips on faucets to keep them from freezing.

In the event pipes freeze, you need to act quickly.

“Hair dryer, open the closet and run a hair dryer on the Popes. I’d rather not have someone run space heating or anything else that they burn the house down with, but if they try to thaw them out on their own, they’re right there, ”said Troy Pelchat of Morningside Plumbing.

If you are planning on being out of town or out of town, dripping the water while you are away can work. You can also turn off the water to your house, which can save you a lot of hassle in the event of a break.
