I-Team’s Call For Action Gets Woman $4,000 Refund After IKEA Kitchen Cabinet Project Goes Wrong – CBS Boston

MARLBORO (CBS) – When Linda Finlay of Marlboro ordered new kitchen cabinets from IKEA in August, she hoped they could be installed in time to prepare Thanksgiving dinner. Instead, she makes do with plastic buckets for makeshift cupboards and runs down to the sink for water.

“It’s awful,” she said.

Finlay ripped out her kitchen after the IKEA folks redesigned the layout of all of the new cabinets for their RV.

“They had to come out three or four times to take a re-measurement,” she explained.

When the plans were in place, she paid IKEA $ 4,000 for the job. But when did the day finally come to put the cupboards on your bare walls?

“One of the plumbers said no, we don’t build RVs. Are you kidding me? ”She said.

After several phone calls to IKEA, Finlay decided she had to return the cabinets, but that didn’t go well either.

“They called and said, ok, we’re coming to get it and then they sent a message that we can’t come today.” She said.

Tired of living without a working kitchen for three months, she turned to the I-Team’s call for action. “I’ve seen how many people get help on Kanal 4,” she told WBZ-TV.

After the I-Team contacted IKEA, the company apologized and told us:

Maintaining a high quality customer experience from start to finish is IKEA’s top priority. We are sorry for the experience Linda Finlay had with her order. We know that our customers are more dependent than ever on their home – and everything in it. We are committed to creating solutions for our customers to enable the many people to have a better everyday life. Because of this, our customer service team is actively working on the case and prioritizing it to resolve the problem she is facing. This time we want to get it right. The customer service team will contact Linda directly to resolve the issue.

IKEA sent a truck to pick up the cabinets and refunded Linda the $ 4,000.

She now uses this money for new wardrobes. When it’s ready, she plans to dive into her favorite Thanksgiving recipes, even if it’s a little late for the holidays.

“I’m just so grateful for you guys, really grateful,” she said.
