Ingram Street: Sewer repair deferred until after Christmas

Scottish Water will not repair a collapsed sewer in Glasgow city center until early January to minimize disruption over the Christmas break.

A section of Ingram Street has been reduced to one lane to allow engineers to assess the damage and determine how it can be repaired.

The previous road traffic management will remain in place until the turn of the year.

A spokesman for Scottish Water said: “Due to the number of other utilities and services it was a long and complex process to get to the damaged section.

“Due to the extent of the excavation and traffic routing required for the repair, we decided to postpone the work until the holidays.

“It’s traditionally a very busy time of year for the city center, so it’s important that we minimize any disruption that these critical repairs cause.”
