JOPLIN, Mon – Joplin City Council is making progress on a sewer repair project.
Tonight the council issued an emergency ordinance to repair the 30 year old pipes that are located under the train tracks in Joplin Webb City Industrial Park. The project will cost more than $ 195,000.
The crews will start working on the project tomorrow.
“Age and corrosion of the old duct alarm pipe, that was the standard at the time. We changed the technology a bit, we put a steel case on, and then we put a PVC plastic pipe to support the sewer, which is not as sensitive to some chemicals, ”said David Hertzberg, Director of Public Works
The project should be completed by next week.
