Taiwan train derailed, killing dozen
The train, an express that drove from Taipei to Taitung at the beginning of a long weekend and carried many tourists, came off the rails north of Hualien in eastern Taiwan. The impact was full and handicapped around 350 people, the fire department said. Between 80 and 100 people have been evacuated from the train’s first four cars, while cars five to eight are “deformed” and difficult to access, it added.
