Man Arrested For Possession Of Pipe Bomb Materials In Valencia

MPs arrested a person after allegedly being in possession of materials compatible with the manufacture of a pipe bomb during a crime-fighting operation in Valencia on Tuesday.

At around 1:50 p.m. on Tuesday, members of the Crime Prevention Unit contacted a person on the 28,000 block of Newhall Ranch Road to conduct a theft investigation, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokeswoman for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“What began as a theft investigation resulted in the recovery of a loaded firearm that was not registered for the male, additional ammunition and materials that were used, among other things, to make a pipe bomb,” said Arriaga.

Garrett Willacker, 21, of Detroit, Michigan, was arrested for holding a loaded firearm and materials that were used to make a destructive device, both crimes and charges, Arriaga added.

Willacker was arrested and taken to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail on $ 185,100 bail.
