Mass. Plumber Gets 12 Years for Marijuana-Growing Operation – NBC Boston

A Massachusetts man was sentenced to 12 years in prison for helping run a large marijuana grow where his family’s plumbing business served as the front line.

According to prosecutors, 40-year-old Thomas Laverty of Clinton was also sentenced to eight years probation on Tuesday and sentenced to pay $ 3,100 in restitution.

He was convicted in January 2020 after a five-day conspiracy trial for laundering money, growing marijuana, and owning marijuana with the intent to distribute it.

According to prosecutors, Laverty and his parents used the Chuck Laverty & Son Inc. plumbing store in Millbury as the front line for large-scale commercial marijuana cultivation and distribution.
