Metro tackles problematic Windmill Park sewer line

The Ekurhuleni metro takes care of the recurring sewage that has left the houses in Windmill Park and is surrounded by sewage basins and threatens the lives of residents.
In our previous story, the advertiser reported that a 71-year-old resident complained about multiple reports of the Hazelwood Avenue spill. However, the problem of the sewer remained – and families in the immediate vicinity had to endure the stench of sewage for weeks.
The city of Ekurhuleni meanwhile admitted that it had received the complaint about the clogging of the sewer from the complainant and stated that the matter was promptly answered by the Ministry of Water and Sanitation.
According to the metro’s spokesman Themba Gadebe, the maintenance team found that the cause of the blockage was due to foreign objects entering the sewer system.
“The first complaint was reported on October 22nd and the sewer maintenance team was dispatched to clear the clog and the sewer blockade reappeared on October 28th. It was disposed of again on October 28th. The sewer team was also dispatched again on November 19th and they managed to clear the blockage with the high pressure machine. “
Gadebe mentioned that the depot will be doing a CCTV camera inspection to check the condition of the sewer line and to sweep all problematic pipe around the area to prevent or remove any sediment that could cause blockages in the future.
