Mint Springs Valley Park closed Nov. 19 to replace culvert pipe at entrance

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA. (WVIR) – Mint Springs Valley Park in Crozet was closed on Thursday November 19 for a tube replacement at the park entrance.

A 30-foot replacement pipe was installed to replace an original throat pipe installed when the park opened in the early 1970s. Due to the recent flooding in the area, this part of the entrance needs to be replaced for safety reasons.

“The park is visited a lot. It is a nice time of year to be out there and we apologize for it, but for the safety of customers and employees it is best if we close the park, take care of it on time and reopen it for business on Friday ”, said Albemarle County Parks and Recreation Superintendent Jim Barbour said.

The park is slated to reopen on Friday, but the final paving will be done after the work is completed. Mint Springs typically has over 3,000 visitors a week for fishing, swimming, and hiking.
