Mumbai: Mirchi & Prince Pipes celebrated the spirit of plumbers across India on World Plumbing Day. The 2020 lockdown triggered by the pandemic had a significant impact on day laborers, including plumbers, who struggled resiliently to survive. After the lockdown, the unsung heroes immediately got to work – solving unsolved plumbing problems in societies and private homes with a die-hard mood.
Prince Pipes has been celebrating World Plumbing Day since 2018 and this year Mirchi & Prince Pipes took the initiative to celebrate the day through a unique campaign aimed solely at celebrating the resilient spirit of plumbers.
Nihar Chheda, corporate strategy of AVP, Prince Pipes and Fittings Limited [PPFL] said: “The lock-up period in 2020 was undoubtedly a challenging time globally and one of the most affected segments was day wage earners. As one of the largest plastic pipe and system manufacturers in India, committed to paving the way for a future that delivers clean water, we have taken the lead to bring members of the plumbing community through this novel initiative on World Installation Day Express solidarity and gratitude. We started commemorating World Installation Day in 2018 and every year thereafter we have taken a unique initiative for the plumbing community with which we work very closely. This year’s campaign allowed PPFL to go the extra mile and have the talk of supporting our plumbers, which is generally taken for granted. Offering accident insurance is a unique and novel expression, a first in the industry, which gives us the opportunity to express appreciation. We thank the Mirchi team for working with us on this powerful initiative and helping us bring it to urban and semi-urban centers to build stronger ties with the sanitation community. “

About the campaign:
Phase 1: Mirchi got involved with the plumbing community on behalf of Prince Pipes by starting a singing competition with the mobile outbound dialer as a solution. The “Mera Plumber Yaar, Singing Superstar” competition was held in several cities in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Calcutta, Ahmedabad, Pune, Jaipur, Lucknow and Patna. The outbound dialer reached over 50,000 plumbers who participated in this campaign.
Stage 2: The response was phenomenal and from the plethora of plumbers, one lucky winner per town received Rs. 20,000 / – for one year of groceries and supplies courtesy of Prince Pipes. The winners were also invited to the Mirchi Studios to interact with some of Mirchi’s favorite radio jockeys, where open discussions about their fights were shared and cherished moments enjoyed.
