Missouri American Water Invests $1.9 million in Maryland Heights Pipe Replacement Project along McKelvey Road

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mon .– (BUSINESS WIRE) – Missouri American Water is replacing several thousand feet of aging aqueduct along McKelvey Road. This project is part of the utility’s multi-million dollar initiative to replace water infrastructure that has reached the end of its useful life in communities across the state.

“We are determined to help St. Louis County’s growth by investing in our water system to meet the needs of present and future generations,” said Debbie Dewey, Missouri Water President of the United States. “The improvements along McKelvey Road will improve the flow of water and supplies to the people of Maryland Heights.”

The work is expected to take place from March to September. Traffic between Creve Coeur Mill Road and Smoke Valley Court will be affected during the following stages:

  • Phase one: The crews will begin work on McKelvey Rd. from Jane Ct. Head south for 4-5 weeks.

  • Phase two: The crews will be working on McKelvey Rd. by Glenridge Dr. to Jonesdale Ct. for 3-4 weeks.

  • Phase three: The crews will be working on McKelvey Rd. at Jane Ct. 5-6 weeks north to Dunhill Dr.

Work on this project usually takes place Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. During construction, customers may experience temporary water supply interruptions, discolored water and / or water pressure below normal water pressure.

Once a main line is replaced, contractors for Missouri American Water will build temporary sections of road to allow traffic to flow. Permanent road repairs, as well as restoration of other yard and property damage caused by the work, will begin within 90 days of the main unit being replaced.
