NEW Street in Quarry Bank will be closed until the end of next week while work is underway to repair a sewer and build a manhole.
Dudley Council highway chiefs issued a temporary road closure order for the stretch of road from the northern limit of number 35 and the southern limit of number 52, which was scheduled to run from today (Monday January 3) through Friday, January 14.
An alternate route for traffic is via New Street, High Street, Cradley Forge, Maypole Fields, Bower Lane and New Street.
The closure was ordered in order to be able to safely carry out shaft construction work and excavation repairs on a polluted sewer.
Access to facades and for emergency services is maintained in a safe place, said highway bosses.
