Newborn’s Body Clogged Building’s Plumbing After Woman Tried To Flush Baby Down Toilet

A woman in Japan was arrested on Monday, September 20, after it was discovered that she tried to abandon her newborn baby by flushing it down the toilet.

Penpanassak Supaporn, a 28-year-old Thai national who resided in Tokyo, Japan, was reportedly over 25 weeks pregnant when she gave birth in the bathroom of her Tokyo condo on Friday, according to the Japan Times.

She gave birth to a boy who was post-mortally measured to be 27 cm (10.6 inches) long and weigh over 635 grams. It is said that she gave birth to the child herself in the toilet.

Investigators have postulated that the mother “was upset after seeing the dead baby’s blood and body and flushing the toilet,” Kyodo News reported.

The little boy went undetected in the condominium pipes until residents of the area complained to the building management on Sunday afternoon that their toilets were not working.

According to Japan Today, a mechanic came to check the clogged pipes.

The newborn was taken to a coroner to see if the baby was stillborn when it was first born, or if Supaporn’s infant was alive before she flushed him down the toilet.

Supaporn has lived in Tokyo for over a year, since March 2020, on a short-term visa. She lives in Shinjuku Ward, where she has private accommodation owned by other operators whose charter bears the title of the room.

She has reportedly sought a more permanent visa situation.
