Paul Connolly’s Kitchen Sink Drama: the bloody Christmas tree!

Pamela was about to buy a freshly cut Christmas tree when she turned around.

“You know what?” she announced to her husband and daughter. “I don’t do that! The gifts, the food, the damn tree. It’s always me. Well, do that. We go with no frills.”

She went outside with glowing cheeks and returned with a long-dead branch of eucalyptus. She put it in a saucepan and wrapped a single thread of tinsel around it.

“There is your tree!” She said triumphantly.

“Cool, Mum,” said Penny, unimpressed. “Works for me,” said Gavin. Pamela didn’t know whether to laugh, cry, or knock this thing over.
