Pimlico Plumbers founder Charlie Mullins may run for London mayor

The 68-year-old entrepreneur could throw his hat in the ring in 2024 after selling his plumbing business this week, valued at up to £ 145 million.

“It’s still a few years away so let’s see how things go, but I’m not going to rule out my running for London Mayor,” he told Times Enterprise Network.

Dubbed Britain’s first multi-million dollar plumber, Mr Mullins was considering running for London Mayor in the 2021 election, in which Sadiq Khan voted for a second term.

However, he retired after deciding a political career would not work while also representing Pimlico Plumbers, whom he founded in 1979.

The next election is due to take place after Mr. Khan completes his three-year term.

From his Spanish villa in Marbella, Mr Mullins shared how selling the company gives him the opportunity to do other things, including representing London and focusing on the music industry.

The company’s boss, Charlie Mullins, said the policy was “no jab, no work” in an interview.

He also recently announced that his son, Scott, will remain the company’s managing director.

“It was a big decision to step down completely. I’ve lived in Pimlico my whole life, ”Mullins told The Mirror.

“But I gave it to good people. Neighbourly has the same work ethic as me and the financial support. “

Mr Mullins was a big opponent of the Brexit deal, calling for Theresa May to step down as Prime Minister when her bill had a tough ride by the Lords.

The company was sold to US home services giant Neighborly, according to a statement posted on its Twitter page on Tuesday.

It read: “The company’s legendary founder, Charlie Mullins, is off on his next adventure.

“But the company remains a family affair led by his son, CEO Scott Mullins.

“The takeover by the world’s largest home service brand franchisor with 10 million customers is an international milestone and offers both companies enormous opportunities for growth, innovation and prosperity.”
