Trenchless burst pipe manufacturer TRIC Tools, Inc. is pleased to announce the introduction of its new and improved 14 hp, 6000 psi hydraulic power pack, specifically designed for the TRIC side burst pipe system. In 2017, the company plans to produce additional pump options for the M-Series municipal burst pipe.
The new TRIC pumps deliver 2 to 8 gallons per minute (GPM) to the pulling unit. The flow rate – which is reflected in the pulling speed – depends on the pulling force required for the job. The 6000 psi pressure gauge is essential as it tells the technician exactly how many tons of pull force the burst pipe assembly is delivering. The gauge provides immediate feedback on the draft resistance and informs the operator of problems such as a bend in the pipe path, a heavy root mass, a transition coupling or a heavy bell joint, or just hard, compact soil conditions. Michael Lien, TRIC Operations Officer, commented, “The new pump has an ergonomic design that exudes power, charm and speed.” The new features include a 14 hp Kohler motor that is directly coupled to the oil gear pump . This shortens the frame of the pump as it eliminates the need for a Lovejoy connection between the pump and motor. The remote control cable will now be plugged into a heavy-duty, 3-pin, twist-lock socket on the front of the pump. “This allows the contractor to easily repair or extend the bobble cable connection using a standard 20A twist lock plug or extension cord from Home Depot,” said John Rafferty, senior field technician at TRIC.
Other features include improved, snap-in sliding handles, a muffler heat shield, and a fully welded tubular steel frame for strength and durability. The wheels have been improved to withstand tough field use. As with other TRIC products, the company’s goal is to keep the devices compact and user-friendly in an attractive package.
