Pipe replacement project to close a portion of Route 11 in Shippensburg Township next weekend | The Sentinel: News

A pipe replacement project will close part of Route 11 near Route 174 in the community of Shippensburg on the Shippensburg Borough line this coming weekend.

PennDOT announced that Route 11 on the south side of the intersection of Route 174 will be closed from 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 10th through 6:00 a.m. on Monday, April 12th.

There will be a detour during the weekend closure. Traffic on Route 11 southbound is on Route 174 east, Interstate 81 south, and Route 696 north to Route 11. Traffic on Route 11 north is via the detour in Reverse order: Route 696 south to I-81 north to Route 174 west to Route 11.

This work is part of a 4.57 mile resurfacing project from Morris Street and the Franklin County line in the Shippensburg borough to Foltz Road / Kline Road in the borough of Southampton.

This project consists of the renewal of the existing pavement using Superpave wear and scratch tracks, milling within the Shippensburg district, extensive reconstruction at the intersection with Route 11 and Route 533 (Newville Road) in the parish of Southampton, the replacement the base, minor improvements to the drainage and guide rail replacement, roadside development items, lane markings, ADA ramp improvements and other other construction work on Route 11 in the Shippensburg district as well as in the Shippensburg and Southampton townships.

Work on this project is expected to be completed by November 5th.
