PennDOT announced that Cottles Asphalt Maintenance Inc. of Everett will begin pipe replacement work on Route 271 in Jackson Township, Cambria County, starting Monday.

In the next week the contractor will start piping in daylight.

This work will continue until temporary signals are given on April 7th and replacement work for the culverts for half-width construction begins. The temporary signals are placed until the project is completed.

Work will begin on the Hinckston Run culvert near the intersection of Route 3039 (Benshoff Hill Road), then the Blacklick Creek culvert near the T-477 (Pine Street) intersection, and finally the Coal The Pit Run culvert near the intersection T-753 (First Street) will then be locked.

Overall work on this project consists of replacing three culverts on Route 271, one over the Hinckston Run, one over a tributary of Blacklick Creek, and the third over the Coal Pit Run.

The work consists of drainage upgrades, replacement of the damaged culverts, minor approach works and guiderail upgrades.

All work on this $ 2.8 million project is expected to be completed by mid-November. All work is weather dependent.
