Planet Water Foundation Brings Life-Changing Access to Clean Drinking Water to Communities Across 5 Countries as Part of World Water Day Activation

In the action week “Project 24”, water filter systems are used Cambodia, India, Mexico, Philippines, and Vietnam

PHOENIX, March 22, 2021 / PRNewswire / – The Planet Water Foundation, a leading nonprofit fighting water poverty, announces the completion of Project 24, its initiative to make life changing impacts in communities without access to clean water.

With the support of its corporate partners, Planet Water has successfully implemented 19 projects that provide up to 34,200 people in five countries with access to clean, safe drinking water. The recipient communities each received an AquaTower water filter system that removes viruses, bacteria, protozoa and other contaminants and covers the daily drinking water needs of up to 1,800 people. Each tower has an integrated hand washing station with three liquid soap dispensers and six water access points to make hand washing convenient and frequent.

This is the seventh year of Project 24, and this year Planet Water has increased its support for communities by incorporating AquaSan, the organization’s new surface disinfection system that provides disinfection capabilities according to World Health Organization standards, into its projects. All beneficiary communities also received Planet Water’s hygiene education program, which teaches children and caregivers healthy hygiene habits to change behavior and knowledge about water health and hygiene.

“Last year was particularly challenging due to Covid-19, but thanks to the support of our donor partners, we are still making the much-needed impact in the communities where we operate,” he said Mark Steele, CEO and Founder of the Planet Water Foundation. “We have adapted our solutions to make an even bigger impact this year. All beneficiary schools will receive hand soap and additional teaching material for a year to reflect the increasing importance of proper hand washing.”

Project 24 is just the beginning of Planet Water’s commitment to these communities. As with all projects, Planet Water will conduct sustainability visits over a four-year period to ensure that all systems are functioning and properly maintained.

This year’s Projekt 24 supporters include Xylem, Electrolux, Watts Water Technologies, Inc., NortonLifeLock, Hung Yen Knitting & Dyeing Co. Ltd., BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), Ludacka Wealth Partners, Freudenberg, Hilton Effect Foundation, Ingersoll Rand, Capital One and Expedia.
