Q: Where should I start planning a new kitchen?

The first thing to think about is the space – consider expanding your space, tearing down or moving walls to create a more open living space, adding more light with windows, double-folded doors or skylights, or just renovating yours current kitchen.

When planning the design, keep in mind that it must be functional. The type of kitchen countertops, such as ceramic or quartz, the finish of the cabinets and the arrangement of appliances should be considered and tailored to you so that the time spent in the kitchen is comfortable and enjoyable. It can be helpful to review what you are storing in your kitchen right now to help you decide how many drawers and cabinets to have in your new one.

Don’t forget about the flooring – if you have pets or children it may be wise to choose a more forgiving material and pattern.

Q: What is your advice on bathroom planning?

When it comes to bathrooms, it is usually the installation that dictates how they should be designed. You should think about where the toilet needs to go (this depends on the installation) and then organize the rest of the sanitary ware around it.

Now, if you have a particularly small bathroom and want more space, you can expand the space, convert other rooms into bathrooms, or even create a new room. This can be a good choice for people who want a bath.

Q: What are the top kitchen and bathroom design trends in 2020?

Grays and blues are still incredibly popular following last year’s trend. People also still love marble-effect countertops and floors.

Islands and breakfast bars are an ongoing trend and are great for transforming a kitchen into a social space for families and friends.

Regardless of what is popular, the look and feel of your new kitchen or bathroom is entirely up to you.
