Question: Hi Ed, I want to install a bidet toilet seat, but I don’t want to run electrical wiring to my toilet area. Do you make bidet seats that don’t need to be plugged into an outlet? I want to keep this plumbing project as simple as possible. Larry, Rhode Island

Answer: The good news is that there are “manual” bidet toilet seats on the market that do not require a power source. The bad news is that a manual bidet seat typically doesn’t have all of the fancy features found in most electronic bidet toilet seat models.

Most noticeable may be the lack of electrically heated wash water. If you can fix this problem, a manual bidet seat can easily plug into the toilet water supply and include some “hand-operated” functions, such as: For example: adjustable settings for spray washing and water pressure, a self-flushing, retractable bidet stick and a comfortable seat in a quiet area.

Bottom line: If you don’t need all of the electronic bells and whistles, a manual bidet toilet seat gives you a clean and easy powerless option.
