Question: Dear Ed: We need to choose a new bathroom faucet for our existing sink. The more information I get, the more confused I get and don’t know what to do. I have to choose between a widespread faucet or a center tap. Can you please give me details of widespread and centered faucets so that I can make the right choice?

Answer: Welcome to the world of bathroom faucet replacement. Not only do you choose the style, but you also need to choose a faucet that will go with your existing sink.

For example: if you have a one-hole sink, you want to look for a one-hole bathroom faucet. However, when you have a three-hole sink, you usually have to choose between a widespread or center tap to properly adjust the sink.

Two-handle centeret faucets are the standard compact models and measure 4 inches from the center of one handle to the center of the other handle. Widely used faucets measure at least 8 inches or more between the faucet handles. In a widely used faucet, the spout and handles usually consist of three separate components.

Bottom Line: Get out your ruler and hopefully with this information you feel like you are ready to make your final faucet choice.
