Plumbers Work Non-Stop to Repair Freeze-Damaged Pipes – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Plumbers work non-stop across North Texas repairing freeze-damaged pipes and restoring running water for customers.

Plumber Francisco Hernandez with Milestone stopped Monday at a house in Frisco that had been turned off since Wednesday.

“We are fully booked for days. Some companies are fully booked for weeks. We’re just trying our best to reach everyone, ”he said.

Hernandez arrived at the Frisco home after a stopover in Allen, where a homeowner sustained significant damage.

“There was a rather noticeable leak. It had punched a hole in the rock. So we cut out the stone and quickly repaired a piece of pipe, ”said Hernandez.

Frisco homeowner Greg Boatwright turned off the water supply in his home in hopes of avoiding significant damage on Wednesday when he stopped leaking water into his kitchen. He had previously had problems with a pipe leak in the garage from a bathroom upstairs. What worried him most, however, was the video the neighbors shared last week about the catastrophic burst pipe damage in the same community.

“When I saw my neighbors’ houses collapse, we had to do something because they are across the street, there, there, there. And we had to stop this terrible freeze from developing, ”said Boatwright.

His family survived on bottled water for six days, waiting for a plumber to be in the house when the water was turned back on so problems could be fixed.

But luckily there was no pipe problem. The leak appeared to have melted snow and ice, sending water through a crack in the roof. Melting ice and snow that remained in one place came through places where there may not be running water.

The plumber checked the water meter with the service restored, but all the faucets in the house turned off and no running water was detected.

“It shows that we are not losing water so I think we are fine,” said Hernandez.

Boatwright was the lucky customer on this plumber’s list.

“He said no pipes were frozen so thumbs up,” said Boatwright.

Hernandez had more stops on a busy schedule of people with pipe concerns. Much of the record that has been forecast by insurance claims since the cold weather will include work for plumbers.
