Plumbing products maker Oatey Co. buys Mexican company Contact Industries

Oatey Co., a Cleveland-based manufacturer of sanitary ware, has acquired a Mexican company that serves the sanitary ware markets in that country.

The terms of the acquisition of Contact Industries SA de CV based in Guadalajara were not disclosed.

Oatey said in a press release that Contact Industries manufactures and sells sanitary ware in Mexico. Founded more than 25 years ago, the Mexican company makes products sold under the Contact brand name in categories including solvent cements, solder and flux, and other sanitary chemicals and accessories.

“The Contact brand is highly regarded and a great addition to Oatey’s market-leading family of brands,” said Neal Restivo, CEO of Oatey, in a statement. “We are excited about this transaction as it will greatly improve our ability to serve customers in the Mexican and Latin American markets.”

An Oatey spokeswoman said in an email that the company is not disclosing the size or annual earnings of Contact Industries.

She said Oatey’s global workforce is now around 1,400.

Oatey was founded in 1916 and operates in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and China.
