Plumbing accessories are still hard to find after winter storms

If you want to get pipe repaired at your home, you may have to wait a while.

Local plumbers are still dealing with homes damaged during winter storms and one of the big problems right now is supplies.

“We’ve been working through the last two weekends,” said Plumbinator plumber Mickey Wolmack. “We had to take a Sunday off to let my boys rest and come back, but we worked from 8 to 9 or 10 at night and I ran five trucks.”

After last month’s winter storms, he received thousands of calls from homes in need of repair, with most of the damage being caused by broken pipes. “We came across a lot of C-PVC that shatters like glass,” said Wolmack.

With so many houses in need of repair, resources are being used up. “They come in, but once they hit the shelves, they’re gone,” Wolmack said, adding that it could take days, weeks, or even months to get certain items.

Wolmack said homes in the central Texas area simply weren’t built to handle the conditions residents saw last month.

“If you press 3 ° you can hardly do anything, everyone did what they should, but it was just too much for our system. The power cut didn’t help at all either. That was the kiss of death for many people at home.” said Wolmack.

For those who are still waiting for repairs, Wolmack asks for patience. “We do everything to reach people.”
