Plumstead Chinese restaurant where ‘toilets opened directly onto kitchen’ told to ‘urgently improve’

A Chinese restaurant in Plumstead received the lowest possible hygiene rating after inspectors visited the restaurant and found that the toilets opened directly onto the kitchen where the food was being prepared.

The Oriental Fusion Restaurant at 56 Plumstead High Street received a zero sanitary rating, meaning an urgent improvement is needed following an inspection on April 13th this year.

A Greenwich Council health inspector also found that “a heavy-duty can opener that was caked with food that would contaminate the food in the next opened can” and that staff handwashing was inadequate.

The inspector stated: “The sinks were not supplied with hot water. This sink must be supplied with hot water. I was told that the kettle had developed a bug the night before.

As a result, “there was no hot water in the sinks on the property.”

It also turned out that the toilets were not properly arranged.
