Portion of Cherokee Parkway to close for 4 weeks | News

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Drivers using Cherokee Parkway will soon have to make a detour due to sewage repairs.

The portion of the street between Grinstead Drive and Willow Avenue will be closed on Monday and will not reopen for about four weeks.

A recent inspection of the road revealed damage to the 72-inch diameter brick sewer that was installed under the parkway in 1900.

The work takes place underground.

“These proactive inspections of our sewer lines allow MSD to identify and correct the damage before it leads to major problems,” said MSD chief engineer David Johnson.

Officials with MSD said the sewage service in the area will not be interrupted, and detours are published in the area.
