Preventing pipes from freezing

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) – Bowling Green Municipal Utilities reminds everyone that winter weather can freeze your pipes.

BGMU’s Christy Twyman says the most important thing people can do is open the cabinet door under your sink, especially on the outside walls of your home.

“When you open these at night and let the heat flow through the pipes. It helps them stay warm. And if you could just let your faucet drip a little, you wouldn’t have to run it at full power. But if you let it drip just a little it really helps keep the water flow there and it prevents it from freezing. “

Twyman adds that you should make sure there are no tubing attached to spigots.

If your pipes freeze up, call a licensed plumber for help.
