PSE&G To Begin Gas Pipe Replacement Project In Millburn

MILLBURN, NJ – PSE&G crews are due to start a main gas replacement program in the South Mountain and Wyoming sections of Millburn.

The project will replace aging cast iron pipes with durable plastic and / or coated steel pipes to increase gas pressure and create a tougher, more efficient and more reliable gas pipeline. In addition, existing overflow valves are shut off and all customers in the work area receive new valves. The project may include temporary gas closures for customers. PSE & G will provide additional information if necessary.

This is a long-term project that is expected to start in mid-October 2020 and continue through summer 2021. The work is currently scheduled to take place Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Please note that Saturday work may be possible during the project.

PSE & G will contact the residents of the planned work areas directly with additional information and coordinate access at home in order to connect new service lines.

If PSE&G technicians need to coordinate access to your house in order to connect the service line and gas meter to the new main line, they will contact the homeowner to arrange a date and time for this work. On the day of your scheduled appointment, the technicians will ask you a series of pandemic-related safety questions. When working at home or on the property, the PSE&G technicians wear personal protective equipment throughout the appointment and ensure social distance. Please allow the technicians access via the next entrance near the basement.
