S-lon Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, a subsidiary of Capital Maharaja Group, recently ran three regional plumbing club programs in Pelmadulla, Ambalangoda and Galle. The programs were conducted on November 9th at the Silver Ray Hotel, Palmadulla, on November 11th at the Sea Breeze Hotel, Ambalangoda, and on November 30th at the Aradhana Hotel, Galle.
Founded in October 2001 under the direction of SC Weerasekara, Group Director of the Capital Maharaja Group, the S-lon Plumber’s Club was founded with the aim of developing and further developing the knowledge, technology and standards relating to the modern sanitary industry and thereby the promote social environment acceptance of the plumbing profession. Over the past two decades, the club has grown to over 8,000 active members who benefit from the practical and informative area-based sessions led by some of S-lon’s most respected senior professionals in the area.
These programs examine the growing trends, opportunities, challenges and skills in the current marketplace. The ultimate goal is to continually develop the local plumbing industry and improve plumbers’ professional and personal standards. The Plumber Club expands career counseling and support to develop plumber’s career prospects and gain professional recognition through NTT (National Trade Test) and National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) with NAITA’s partnership.
The S-lon plumber club offers its members insurance. This becomes the habit of saving for their future, and it will sustain and protect them in the event of injury and death. S-lon also initiated “Nena Saviya”, a scholarship program for children run by members of the S-lon plumber’s club. Children who perform excellently in the 5th grade scholarship examinations receive financial support up to the A / Ls.
The recently completed programs were carried out in compliance with mandatory hygiene regulations and in collaboration with the National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA).
At one of the events, Group Director of Capital Maharaja Group Weerasekera said: “As a leader in the local industry, we have a duty to motivate and develop industry standards and to adapt this profession to modern times.”
Speaking of the continued support and commitment from the local plumbing community, he said, “It is encouraging to see that the efforts of our initiative are being implemented by professionals motivated to improve and excel in their jobs.
Hence, improving plumbers’ knowledge and technological know-how is key to the country’s survival.
On the other hand, recognition and social acceptance, the protection of the sanitary community and their families are important for the entire sanitary industry. “
The programs were carried out under the direction of the Product Development Manager and the Club Manager of S-lon Plumber, Mr. MohomedShiraast, together with the Group Director of the Capital Maharaja Group SC Weerasekera.
Other S-lon representatives included CEO of S-lon Lanka (Pvt) Ltd Gehan Amarasinghe, Sanath Chaminda – Sales Manager, Prasanna Chandrasekeran – Manager, Dealer Sales and Development, Mohamed Rizny – Brand Manager and S-lon Area Sales Representative. Several officials from the National Agency for Apprenticeships and Vocational Training also participated in the programs.
