The notice about boiling water in Sachs Harbor, NWT was lifted, according to a press release on Monday.
The recommendation to boil water came into force at the beginning of June due to an above-average turbidity (muddy water). The values in the treated water from the water system have since fallen to “acceptable values” and “all problems” have been resolved.
No diseases related to drinking water have been reported in the community, the statement said.
Normal use of drinking water can be resumed.
However, the Department of Health and Welfare recommends that residents and businesses flush their water supplies as follows:
- Run all cold taps and drinking fountains for one minute before use.
- Flush, drain, and clean all water-using equipment such as hot tubs, coffee makers, and ice makers for at least a minute.
- Change all filters at the point of use (tap-mounted carbon filters, Brita filters, etc.).
- Let the water softener go through a regeneration cycle.
- Empty and fill the water heater.
- Empty and clean the water tank.
