Schuylkill County Prison employees have new bathrooms.

County officials approved a $ 30,625 contract with Miller Bros. Construction, Schuylkill Haven, February 2 through June 30 to show and restore the bathrooms on Wednesday.

District Administrator Gary Bender said the bathrooms were “in poor condition”.

Paul Fetterolf, director of public works for the county, said the bathrooms were in need of repair because of a water leak that occurred in January. Work began on February 15 and ended on Monday. The improvements include new drywall, ceiling tiles, an epoxy-coated concrete floor, and touches of toilet fittings and wash basins. No COVID-19 money paid for work, he said. Prison funds were used.

Prison guard David Wapinsky did not return a call for comment.
