Spanish Hills mansion wins Custom Home of the Year

A The unfinished mansion in Spanish Hills with European influences and valued at $ 18 million is the Custom Home of the Year in Las Vegas.

The villa also won the Design & Architecture category at the Southern Nevada Home Builders Association’s Silver Nugget Awards. For full coverage of the Silver Nugget Awards, see the November 7th special.

The nearly completed two-story home, a project by Growth Holdings (trading as Growth Luxury Homes), has a building envelope of 18,763 square feet, including space for a 10-car garage, covered deck, and rooftop deck. There are 12,455 square feet of living space consisting of five bedrooms and nine bathrooms on the 1 acre property. It is expected to be completed early next year.

“When it’s done, it will be one of the most impressive homes in Vegas,” said Steve Escalante, vice president of business development for Growth Holdings.

“Growth Luxury Homes (GLH) has a culture of thinking ahead and uses our projects as a platform to create something extraordinary for our customers.”

The Spanish Hills mansion is called “The Flying Sunset” and is being used as a model despite the purchase, Escalante added.

The owner is an international businessman who “has traveled widely, seen the best of the best around the world and wanted to experience the best in his hometown,” said Escalante. “The Flying Sunset is nothing less than a home that, like its innovative owner, will push the boundaries in terms of design, material and technology.”

Escalante said this vision was born with GLH’s design and architecture team, which includes some of the world’s most talented designers from France, Spain, the Middle East and the United States. This international collaboration resulted in a new style coming to Las Vegas.

“The concept was to bring a different way of living indoors and outdoors and a lot of international flair to the entire property,” said Escalante. “We call the style Eurolux. They have some modern elements with earth tones and organic elements and a bit of tradition. There is a certain nervousness. It covers a wide spectrum. “

It offers a new perspective on how materials, lighting and design can create spaces that “combine comfort with an international flair that feels like you’ve just experienced the latest hot couture fashion drop,” added Escalante.

This feels like a home where you can have an intimate environment, but you can expand and open up the house and (let it be) a place to socialize and have great functions. That gives you flexibility. “

The back yard will have a so-called “flying pool”. The house is facing the sunset to the west and the pool will be like flying off a cliff, Escalante said.

“When you sit there, you can see the sunsets from Red Rock forever,” said Escalante. “The pool will be glazed on the sides along the mountainside. So if you drive past the house on the 215 Beltway, you will see water that looks like it is floating.

“It’s not just brave, it’s something that the city hasn’t done yet.”

The backyard terrace will have a sunken lounge. There will be a garden under the pool that will be terraced down the slope. There will be fruit trees and other plants to give it a European flair, Escalante said.

“There will be a sidewalk that slopes down in terraces like in Europe. And there will be seating, ”said Escalante. “With that flying pool and green, it’ll be something you’ve never seen in Las Vegas before.”

As for the interior of the home, Escalante said it is the use of space and design seen in world class hotels. There will be a floating staircase and a 16 foot fireplace.

“It’s like a floating fireplace,” said Escalante. “It’s massive. From the front of the fireplace, water will flow from the front of the house to the back of the house. With the elements there is an element of fire, water, earth and wind. “

The main level will have a bar and living room as well as an office. This level will also have a theater and game room, entertainment lounge, kitchen, gym, family room and spa.

As for the bedrooms, the upper level will have the master bedroom and three guest bedrooms. A guest room is on the ground floor.

“For the master bedroom, think of the most luxurious kind of world-class resorts and everything you would expect in one of them,” said Escalante. “It has a floating glass steam shower with large rain heads coming down. It has floor-to-ceiling windows with a floating bathtub in front of them. The tub is on an organic rock backdrop that you walk on. It’s very impressive. “

The master bedroom has a fireplace, bookcase, and TV that resembles a seven-star resort, Escalante said. There is a balcony with a view of the Spring Mountains of Red Rock Canyon.

If you want more, there are even 360-degree views on the roof terrace.

“You will see Red Rock and also have a view of the Strip,” said Escalante. “There will be a bar up there with beautiful planters. It will give you an international rooftop setting where you can have dinner outdoors or entertain your friends with a fire pit. “

The mansion uses stone, furniture, furnishings, lighting and cabinets (which) come from all over the world and includes Portugal, Spain, Italy, Croatia and the Middle East.

“It’s a collection of various elements of the home that are sourced around the world,” said Escalante. “It will have Armani plumbing fixtures. It’s the best of the best.”

The manor house with three entrance gates has a porte cochere. One gate leads you to the garage and another to the truck stop, Escalante said.

“When you walk in there, it feels like you’re going to one of these big resorts,” said Escalante. “It’ll feel like that.”

Escalante said it was an honor for the house to win the Silver Nugget Award and place it in the same category as other luxury houses that were considered.

“We feel very blessed to be considered along with some of these exceptional builders in the city,” said Escalante. “I think Las Vegas has some of the best design and construction features in the country. We’re pushing the envelope here in Las Vegas and it’s nice to challenge ourselves to come up with amazing new concepts and designs and to be recognized for that is fantastic. “
